Jesus said – “I will build My church and the gates of hell will not overpower it!” (Mat. 16:18).
The first New Testament church, made up directly from Jesus’ disciples, was a house church (Acts 2:2). Later, “that day about 3000 were added” (Acts 2:41). How many house churches did they have then? They all “met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity” (Acts 2:46NLT). In the New Testament Believers never built a single church building, but only met in homes for “… teaching, fellowship, breaking bread and prayer” (Acts 2:42).
Christians never constructed a single church building for over 300 years, until the Roman Emperor, Constantine, directed the Christians to replace the pagans to meet in their former buildings – forever changing Jesus’ church functions and leaderships example. The church became a spectator church instead of a participator church. Jesus and the apostles had many reasons for only having house churches as the exclusive New Testament model.
We are a New Testament Church, which should tell you a lot about what we believe. The Gospel (good news) we believe is similar to what any local Christian church would believe. While doctrines may differ, we are committed to unity in the major theological points of Christianity. Main issues like the Trinity, Salvation by Grace alone through Faith alone, and the blessing of scripture as God's word to us for training and instruction are all a major part of what unites us with all Jesus followers.
Imagine no salaries, mortgages, maintenance costs, landscaping, etc. Think of what could be done to advance God's Kingdom with that money? We are committed to making it possible to truly help those among us in need. We don't have to imagine. This is who we are.
